St. Francis Xavier 2008 WildCat Classic

In the opening WildCat Classic Title Game, the Xavier Gidgets trailed Santa Maria by five points with a minute to play. A quick basket pulled the WildCats to within 3. The young Lady WildCats then rebounded a missed shot and scored to pull within one point with 6 seconds remaining. Then the WildCat press stole the inbound pass, and frantically put up a desperation shot as time was running out. As the buzzer sounded, the ball swished through the net and the home crowd faithful exploded into jubilant celebration as the Gidgets claimed the WildCat Classic Crown.
The Xavier Debs had their hands full with St. Francis DeChantal, who just wouldn't go away. Xavier led throughout, but every time it seemed that the Wildcats had built up a comfortable lead, SFDC would find a way to climb back into the fray. In the end, the tough Xavier defense and precision outside sharpshooting proved too much for DeChantal, as the Xavier WildCat Debs took home the Championship Trophy.
In the feature match, the Xavier WildCat Girls Varsity squared with St. Margaret's, who were 27 point winners over St. Ignatius in the Semis. The Xavier Wildcats were up to the challenge. They took an early double digit lead and never looked back, easily capturing the Classic Championship. From start to finish, the outcome of this game was never in doubt.

Congratulations to all our WildCats for Great Performances
